Stereotypical Williamsburg Hipsters

I'm rather ambivalent when it comes to the subject of hipsters. Yeah, admittedly, they have some rather laughable attributes, but for the most part, they have admirable style.
From giggling at the Hipster Olympics to reading satirical blogs such as Hipster Runoff it's clear that the term "hipster" and anyone connotated with it has been given a bad rap.
However, some have managed to make peace with their inner hipster and actually, *gasp*, admit that they are one!
Let's take for example Lauren Ashley Strenge, a resident hipster of Williamsburg, and girlfriend of Alex Suarez from the band Cobra Starship. When asked about hipsters, she simply stated, "Why is there such a negative connotation when someone says hipster? And, it's always hipsters who hate other hipsters who claim that they aren't hipsters. It's like denial, or something. Just get over it. We all wear white belts. We all listen to The Smiths. We all polish the lower east side bars of their cheapest beer. We all try not to smile in pictures that we know will be posted on some "socialite" website. We all stay up until 5am. Most of us smoke cigarettes. Most of us only have 2% body fat. Come on, it's fun. I'm not a pseudo philosophical anxious know it all that only mentions underground bands that no one has ever heard of (which is what most people think of when they say hipster, I'm assuming). I'm just out to have a good time with good friends while listening to good music. So, call us what you will. We're having more fun than most people anyway."
I believe that was an excellent explanation : ]
So now that we've reconciled with the term "hipster" I'd like to share a cute outfit in the style.

Cupcakes with Pink Frosting and Sprinkles

Undoubtedly, one of the reasons I love Johnny Cupcakes is because of the fact that I'm enamored with cupcakes. No, I don't particularly like eating them, but they are just so picturesque that it's hard not to like looking at them. So, even though Johnny Cupcakes does not actually sell cupcakes, he gets kudos just for having the word in his moniker.
In case you haven't heard quite yet, Johnny Earle, the founder of the brand, is working on a new location on Melrose Avenue, set to open on August 2, 2008. Along with the people that do animatronics for Disney, he's playing on the theme of his name by making his store resemble an actual bakery! It will be super cute, I just know it.
Since I will not be able to make it to L.A. to see the store, I suppose I'll have to settle for shopping his website.
The t-shirts are witty, fun, and sure to bring a smile to your face. Take, for example, one of his "freshly baked" tees that cashes in on the release of "The Dark Knight"...

At the reasonable price of $35.99, go ahead, buy a dozen! A baker's dozen, that is...
